Protect your livestock from cruelty with Elephant Barns

The worst tragedies are those that could’ve been easily prevented. Far too often, it is animals and livestock that most commonly pay the ultimate price when farmers skimp on quality and form.

Recently, more than 4,000 hogs met an untimely and cruel demise when their wooden barn was reduced to a smoldering pile of charred ash during a disastrous fire last week in Lynn, Pennsylvania. Instead of investing in a more reliable metal structure, the livestock’s owner opted for the cheaper wooden alternative – a decision that would prove costly as local experts estimated the loss due to fire to exceed $1 million.

Ultimately, the wooden relic would turn into a coffin for the thousands of helpless pigs that were forced to spend their final minutes in agony as they gasped for breath in a soot-rich environment.

The barns’ construction provided another obstacle. The wooden-framed structures are topped with metal roofing that collapsed during the fire, concealing scorching sections of the barns that could easily reignite.

While investigators have ruled our criminal misconduct as the culprit in the desolating loss, it has done little to ease the suffering of the farm’s owners who are now tasked with the grim responsibility of burying 4,000 animals. Although these animals were likely destined for the slaughtering house, they were deprived of a humane passing due to the negligence of builders.

Elephant Structures can save lives

Like so many other fires that we’ve reported on, this tragedy, too, could’ve been prevented by demonstrating keen insights of the building industry by building in a metal barn, such as the ones designed by Elephant Structures.

Our metal barns, which come in three different styles, are unlike anything you’ve ever seen. They are structurally sound and lighter than their wooden counterparts with twice the versatility. By using our custom barn designer, you can add windows, doorways and awnings to spruce up the rural and practical appeal of this farming mainstay.

More than a 1,000 uses!

We’ve seen proud owners of our buildings use their barns in more ways than you can possibly imagine. As evident by some recent purchases, you don’t have to be a farm to enjoy one of our metal buildings. From yoga studios and haunted houses, to wedding venues and community dances, our barns are quickly becoming the impromptu convention centers of their day!

Choose a custom metal roof

The frame of the steel barn is always one foot shorter than the length of the roof you select. Make sure when ordering your structure that you consider this. In terms of style, we have a basic regular roof (round roof on our County Barn), an A-Frame roof (boxed-eave roof on our Ridgeline Metal Barn), and a vertical roof on our Valley Barn and optional on our Ridgeline Barn. All color options are available on any style roof.

Customizable, country style barns perfect for anyone looking to build a tiny home.

Financing options are available

Don’t let the initial cost of purchase and installation prevent you from providing an adequate and safe home for your livestock. We offer financing options for qualified customers. For just a small down payment, you could become the next proud owner of an Elephant Barn.
