Over the past week, most of the country has dealt with some form of severe winter weather. Snowfall accumulations ranged from several inches in parts of North Carolina to more than 12 feet in areas of California. The Midwest was also heavily affected, with more than 18 inches falling in Idaho this weekend. The heavy snowfall actually led to the collapse of a pole barn in the Boise County town of Horseshoe Bend, Idaho.
LaDonna Vinson and her husband, Lane, rent the home in Horseshoe Bend where the pole barn collapsed under the weight of the snow. According to the story, Lane was working in the yard on Sunday when he noticed a pole on the hay barn looked bent. He then went inside and told his wife that they needed to move the tractors that were under the structure. The tenants said that they could hear the cracking and popping of the structure buckling as they worked to move the tractors. Both machines failed to start due to dead batteries, but they were able to jump start one and move it before being forced to abandon the second while they were trying to get it started. Just as they ran out from the barn roof, the entire building collapsed in a cloud of snow and wind. Luckily, nobody was hurt and all of the damaged property was insured.
